During his three-day visit to Rajasthan, Chairman of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) Manoj Kumar participated in a number of programmes and workshops to propagate Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mantra of becoming a job generator rather than a job seeker.

On April 20th, a workshop on the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) was held in the presence of Jaipur MP Ramcharan Bohra and Panchayat Samiti members from various Panchayat Samitis, Sarpanch, representatives of Khadi institutions, and senior officials of the Commission, and on April 21st, detailed information about the scheme was shared directly with the beneficiaries by organizing an awareness camp under PMEGP in Dadiya village of Jaipur.

Speaking at the PMEGP workshop held on April 20th at the State Office in Jaipur, MP Ramcharan Bohra stated that the Khadi and Village Industries Commission is continually working to provide jobs in every village. The MP directed the organization of awareness programmes in various Panchayat Samitis/Vidhan Sabha constituencies.

Speaking to the audience on this occasion, Manoj Kumar stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's credo of 'Vocal for Local' has transformed Khadi into a 'Local to Global' product. Khadi is no longer only a fashion icon; it has evolved into the most effective medium of change in the lives of the underprivileged.

He stated that the country's youth may provide employment to the greatest number of people by participating in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swadeshi initiative by establishing small enterprises with loans from the PMEGP.

During his visit to Jaipur on April 20th, Chairman, KVIC stated in the Khadi Samvad programme that in order to improve the sale of Khadi as well as to fulfil the Prime Minister's dedicated vision and to improve the economic condition of khadi artisans, KVIC has increased the wages of all workers engaged in Khadi work by nearly 35% in one go with effect from April 1st, which is a historic step in itself.

"I am pleased that the Khadi and Village Industries Commission has increased Khadi artisans' wages by more than 150 percent since 2014," he remarked. He urged the general people to support the development of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' by purchasing more Khadi and village industry items.

On the second day of the Rajasthan tour, an awareness camp was held in village Dadia, Jaipur, under the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), in the presence of Lok Sabha MP, Jaipur, and Chairman, Khadi and Village Industries Commission, as well as local people's representatives.

On this occasion, full information on the initiative was provided by presenting the application process for the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme via PowerPoint. In the camp, Member of Parliament and Chairman KVIC made the beneficiaries apply for loans online. The camp received 70 to 80 applications. On the third day of his visit, April 22nd, Chairman, KVIC met with officers and staff of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission, Jaipur.
