Lost or Misplaced Your PAN Card? Here’s the Easiest Method to Re-issue, Reprint a New PAN; Complete Details Inside

However the main purpose of Permanent Account Number is to use a universal identification key to track the monetary transactions, which might have a taxable component to prevent tax evasion.

If by chance you lose or misplace your pan card then you don’t have to worry as you can immediately apply for a duplicate one. In these cases, the Permanent Account Number assigned to the individual will not change. It is important to mention that if you want to apply for a duplicate PAN Card or reprint the PAN card then you will have to download the application form for duplicate PAN Card.

  • Self-attested copy of your PAN Card / PAN Allotment Letter

  • Self-attested address proof

  • Self-attested identity proof

  • Self-attested date of birth proof

How to make changes and re-issue new PAN Card

Online Procedure:

Step 1 – Go to - tin.tin.nsdl.com to make corrections or changes in your PAN card details.

Step 2 – At the bottom of the page you will find a link saying ‘Apply for Changes / Correction in PAN Data (for DSC users’, select ‘Individual’ option.

Step 3 – Click on 'Select' & a new web-page will open. Here you will find the form for “Request For New PAN Card / For Changes or Correction in PAN Data”.

Step 4 - Enter all the columns in the form and make sure you don’t tick on any box given on the left margin. Properly fill all details such as full name, parents’ names, date of birth, address for correspondence, email id, Aadhaar No, contact details etc.

Step 5 - Do the payment & submit the form. Once the payment is done, the form will be submitted along with required supporting documents & a proof of the pre-owned card that has to be reprinted.

Step 6 - After successful submission, you will get an acknowledgement slip that will have a 15-digit number which can be used to track the status of the PAN application.

Step 7 – Take a print-out of the acknowledgement slip, affix a photograph and sign it. Then send it to the NSDL Office with the demand draft (if you didn’t make online payment), proof of identity, proof of existing PAN, address & date of birth as specified in the application. Note:

Don’t forget to write ‘APPLICATION FOR PAN CHANGE REQUEST and N-Acknowledgment Number’ on top of the envelope. In you have misplaced your Acknowledgement slip then you can regenerate it @ https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/pan/changemode.html.

Once the NSDL office receives your acknowledgement slip, your request will be processed & approved. The duplicate PAN card will be posted to your address of communication as mentioned in the form.

Important points to keep in mind while applying for a new or duplicate PAN Card

  • The acknowledgement slip, demand draft, if any along with documents must reach the NSDL office within fifteen days from the date of online application.

  • Applications that are received with DD as a mode of payment will be processed by NSDL only on receipt of required proofs & realization of payment.

  • Applications received with net banking/credit card/debit card as mode of payment will be processed by NSDL on receipt of essential documents.

  • The form & documents will be verified by the necessary authority & if everything is accurate, the duplicate PAN card is dispatched to the individual.

For re-issuance of duplicate PAN Card without any alteration or changes in it then the address for communication will be updated in the Income Tax database using the address for communication mentioned in the application.
