On Saturday, oil manufacturing companies (OMCs) increased the price of domestic Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). The 14.2 kilogram cylinder will now set you back an additional Rs 50. The cost of a cylinder has now reached the Rs 1,000 threshold as a result of this increase. Starting today, May 7, a domestic cylinder will cost Rs 999.50.

The price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder was hiked by approximately Rs. 102 to Rs. 2,355.5 in Delhi earlier this month. A 5-kg LPG commercial cylinder's price was also raised to Rs. 655.

Following the assembly elections in five states, the prices of petrol, diesel, and LPG have been steadily rising. The price of a subsidized domestic LPG cylinder increased by Rs. 50 on March 22. There was no change in the price of household LPG cylinders after October 6, 2021.

Domestic cooking gas costs differ from state to state owing to local taxes. Every month, the pricing of LPG cylinders is revised by the fuel retailers.

In a given year, each household is entitled to a total of 12(14.2 kilogram) cylinders at subsidized prices. Customers must purchase additional LPG cylinders at market prices after that. Consumers receive discounted LPG cylinders under the PAHAL (Direct Benefit Transfer of LPG) scheme. Several factors influence the subsidies, including foreign exchange rates and crude oil prices.
