Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, stated on Monday that full compensation will be provided to farmers whose crops had been harmed by floods and pest infestations. Farmers will be paid the relief and insurance amounts for crop loss as quickly as possible. Chouhan examined the injured crops in Ashoknagar district's village Bajawan, tehsil Mungaoli.
During his interaction with the farmers, Chouhan stated that agricultural loss will be compensated for by offering assistance and insurance. He asked the commissioner and collector to conduct the agricultural damage survey by January 18.
The CM said, “Don't worry we'll deal with the matter together. I'll get you out of here. If there is a crop loss of more than 50%, a relief sum of Rs 30,000 per hectare would be provided. Crop insurance would be made accessible on a separate basis. In addition, the repayment of short-term loans will be delayed, and short-term crop loans will be transformed into medium-term loans”. Chouhan assured farmers of all possible assistance during a discussion with them after taking stock of their crops.
At one of the visits to village Khiston, Chief Minister Chouhan instructed the officers to pay Rs. 50 thousand immediately to an old lady farmer who suffered a huge loss. Makkhan Bai Rajak, another farmer at Mabai village was offered immediate support of Rs.50 thousand as she was in a dire need of compensation. During an interaction at Mungawali village, the CM learned that Hazarilal, another affected farmer, has his daughter's wedding next month and offered to take care of all the arrangements.
Survey work should be done completely truthfully and transparently. Following the survey, the list should be posted in the panchayats so that the farmers affected are also made aware. If anyone has a problem, it can be worked out. The chief minister stated that farmers who have incurred more than a 50% loss will be given a relief payment of Rs 30,000 per hectare.
In crop insurance, if crops are damaged, a 25% advance payment is granted, and the full 75% amount is given following crop damage assessment.
Shri Chouhan said that Rs 4 lakh will be given for loss of life, Rs.30,000 on the death of cows and buffalos, and relief amount will also be given for small animals like calf, goat, and hen. Apart from this, if the houses have suffered any damage, then the amount will also be given for the repairs.
