The Manipur Government has taken significant steps to support the agriculture sector by allocating an additional fund of Rs. 2.5 crore to the Agriculture Department for the procurement of fertilizers. The decision aims to bolster the state's agricultural activities and provide necessary resources to farmers.

In a meeting chaired by Chief Minister N Biren Singh, key officials from the Chief Secretary's office, Security Advisor, DGP, and senior police personnel came together to discuss the prevailing security situation in the state. During the meeting, Chief Minister N Biren Singh also met with representatives from the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), an apex body of valley-based civil society organizations (CSO) of the Meitei community, and the United Naga Council (UNC).

The discussions included matters concerning the recent unfortunate incident where M. Lucy, a resident of Manipur, lost her life due to an attack by unidentified miscreants. The Manipur police have issued a stern warning against any obstruction to the movement of security forces in carrying out their official duties. They emphasized that any deviation or obstruction would be met with lawful and legal action.

In a reconciliatory gesture, representatives of COCOMI expressed remorse for the heinous act and offered a sincere apology before the Naga delegates led by the UNC. The Chief Minister condemned the gruesome crime and expressed his condolences and sympathy to the bereaved family members of late M. Lucy and the representatives of UNC.

Furthermore, Chief Minister N Biren Singh assured that justice will not only be served but will be seen to be done. The meeting participants reached a consensus to ensure that the culprits responsible for the crime are apprehended and given appropriate punishment in accordance with the law. The State Government and its agencies are committed to conducting a thorough and swift investigation into the matter.

As part of the resolution, the State Government has agreed to provide financial support to the family of the deceased. A sum of Rs. 10 lakhs will be paid to the Next of Kin of late M. Lucy in adherence to Naga customary law. Additionally, an amount of Rs. 5 lakhs will be provided to meet ritual requirements according to Maring customary law. To secure the future of Marim Shangpui, the daughter of the late Lucy, the State Government has pledged to pay Rs. 5 lakhs for her educational needs and to offer her suitable government employment based on her educational qualifications when she becomes eligible.

In a separate meeting focused on the distribution of Urea, Chief Minister N Biren Singh presided over discussions related to the allocation and distribution of fertilizers to farmers. The Agriculture Department has been entrusted with the responsibility of closely monitoring the procurement and distribution of fertilizers to ensure effective implementation.

During the meeting, several key decisions were made regarding the distribution of fertilizers. Farmers possessing valid Farmer Identity Cards, issued by the competent authority, can easily procure fertilizer from designated District Agriculture Officers (DAOs) or authorized dealers upon presenting their Farmer Identity Cards and completing the payment process.

No additional documents will be required for such farmers. Moreover, those farmers who have Pattas and Aadhar Cards can also obtain Urea from the District Agriculture Officers or Dealers by completing the necessary payment formalities.
