The Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Government of India, organized a grand start-up Conclave today at the Marriott Convention Center in Hyderabad to promote existing and emerging startups in the livestock, dairy, and animal husbandry sectors in collaboration with the National Dairy Development Board, Startup India, CII, and the Animal Husbandry Department of Telangana.
Parshottam Rupala, Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India graced the event with his presence as Chief Guest in august presence of Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, Minister of State of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying and Dr. L. Murugan, Minister of State of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying and T. Srinivas Yadav, Minister for Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Cinematography of Telangana.
In his address to the Conclave, Parshottam Rupala stated that agriculture diversification through animal husbandry is one of the primary drivers of growth in rural incomes, and that increased public investment in the livestock sector is urgently needed. The Ministry of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (MoAHD) is committed to working with all stakeholders to further boost growth in the livestock sector, making animal husbandry more profitable for farmers and entrepreneurs in the livestock sector.
Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairy, also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of the livestock sector as well as the Major Challenges of the Indian Livestock Sector, namely lower productivity and emerging diseases. To overcome all of these challenges and promote entrepreneurship, technology interventions, digitalization, innovative ideas, and so on, the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying is collaborating and synergizing efforts with other Ministries and stakeholders.
The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying is also coordinating and coordinating efforts with other Ministries and stakeholders, particularly in the context of a shared goal of assisting farmers and entrepreneurs in increasing their income through the livestock sector. Dr. L. Murugan, Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairy, stated that the process of transforming rural economies through scientific intervention in the livestock sector has already begun, and we are speeding up the process to achieve new milestones. Valuable suggestions from all stakeholders will assist us in developing policy for future development.
Prior to 2014, there were few startups; now, we rank third in the world with over 1 lakh startups. "India ranks eighth in the world in meat exports and third in egg exports. Dairy, Animal Husbandry is growing and leading with technology," minister added.
T. Srinivas Yadav, Minister for Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Government of Telangana, congratulated the Department on hosting such a startup conclave in Hyderabad. In his opening remarks, Rajesh Kumar Singh, Secretary, highlighted the enormous potential of India's livestock and dairying sectors, as well as various interventions being undertaken by the government for livestock, such as infrastructure development, productivity enhancement, product value addition, livestock health improvement, and services delivered to farmers' doorsteps.
Varsha Joshi, Additional Secretary, GoI, gave a brief presentation on the department of Animal Husbandry's promotional and supportive activities aimed at fostering the growth of startups. Dr. Sapna Poti, Director, Strategic Alliances Division, PSA Office, spoke at the Grand Startup Conclave about industry and startup engagements via the Manthan Platform.
Meenesh Shah, Chairman, extended a vote of thanks to the dignitaries and Conclave participants. Entrepreneurs, investors, and industry experts gathered for this event to share ideas, network, and learn from one another. It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase innovative ideas and products while also networking with other entrepreneurs and stakeholders. Keynote speeches by prominent industry leaders were followed by interactive sessions, panel discussions, and presentations by successful start-ups.
The Conclave included a showcase of selected startups, a pitch fest, a buyer-seller meet, and a workshop for startups to train early-stage startups in the Animal Husbandry and Dairying Sector in the art of pitching, building the main business pillars, and telling their impact story.
