NESTS Organizes 2-Day Amazon Future Engineer Programme for EMRS Teachers in Delhi

National Education Society for Tribal Students has organized a 2 day vis-a-vis interaction with Eklavya Model Residential Schools teachers to provide capacity building training to eventuate Amazon Future Engineer Program-CSR program in association with the Learning Links Foundation. 

The training workshops are set up in 54 Eklavya Model Residential Schools in a total of 6 states. The workshop consists of computer science education for students of tribal and other communities at an early level, exposing them to basic computational skills to intermediate and advanced skills like data-coding. 

The first of the many workshops is organized in YMCA Auditorium, New Delhi on 28th and 29th of December which would begin phase 1 of the training workshops. Further it is to be launched in a number of 54 Eklavya Model Residential Schools in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, and Telangana in schools with proper digital infrastructure. 

The teachers will be exposed to imperative resources that would help facilitate computer science education amongst school children. The Amazon Future Engineer Program is aimed at developing an interest of students towards computer science streams and creating opportunities to explore a higher education and future prospects in the stream. 

The source curriculum will be focused on the topics such as computer science fundamentals, introduction to coding, logical sequencing, learning loops, block programming using open secure source platforms like code.org, class chat sessions to analyze tech space, different tech initiatives, etc.

The program is to ensure a level of awareness amongst students and teachers of Eklavya Model Residential Schools to evaluate and create any potential for prospects in the stream of computer science by providing quality information technology accessible.  

Learning Links Foundation is a non profit organization responsible for working towards the ‘Amazon Future Engineer Program’ preparing an opportunity of exposure to modern information technology for students to form careers in STEM education along with building capacity by providing training to the teachers. 

NESTS, or National Education Society for Tribal Students set up under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs is responsible to establish, equip, support, control and manage the schools in tribal areas to oversee their well-being and promotion. The NESTS functions through an Executive Committee under the Leadership of the Secretary of Tribal Affairs. The Executive Head of the administration is the Commissioner who is to execute policies formed by the Executive Committee.
