Tripura, a unique semi-hilly state in the North Eastern Region of India, recently organized a successful event titled "Showcasing Tripura at Varanasi" on July 21, 2023, with the aim to promote the state as a prime business destination.

Known for its diverse mix of tribal cultures, abundant natural resources, and rich religious heritage, Tripura showcased its famous GI tagged organic Tripura Queen Pineapple and a wide array of Agri Horti products during the event. Additionally, the state highlighted its thriving Handloom & Handicraft industry, Tourism, Rubber, and Bamboo produce.

The event received extensive support from seven departments of Tripura, namely Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Tribal Welfare Department, Forest Department, Industry Department, Handloom and Handicraft, and Tourism Department. The seamless execution of the event was carried out by North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation (NERAMAC), a Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region.

The Chief Guest of the event, Ratan Lal Nath, Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Power, Government of Tripura, emphasized the state's commitment to promoting local produce, artisans, and the land itself. He stressed the need to obtain GI certification for unique products to preserve and promote traditional knowledge.

Moreover, he underscored the significance of showcasing Tripura's potential to the rest of India and the world, not only in terms of diverse produce availability but also its geographic advantages. Tripura is currently focusing on promoting innovation, encouraging food processing, and developing allied industries while enhancing its tourism appeal and accessibility.

During the event, Commodore Rajiv Ashok (Retd), Managing Director of NERAMAC, explained the reasoning behind choosing Varanasi as the venue. He highlighted the city's rich heritage, recognition as a vibrant handloom and handicraft hub, and its status as an emerging commercial center in the region, making it an ideal location to display Tripura's offerings outside the North Eastern Region.

One of the key highlights of the event was the Buyer-Seller meet, which witnessed the participation of over 50 buyers from various sectors, including agri-horti, tourism, perfume, handloom, and handicraft.

Their keen interest and intent to conduct business with Tripura serve as a significant takeaway from the event. It is expected that these connections established during the event will lead to fruitful collaborations in the coming months.
