Government’s Initiatives to Raise Farmers’ Income:
The Government has started many initiatives to transform agriculture in order to enhance farmers’ income during the last 6 years. Efforts are underway to promote & support initiatives leading to sustainability of the system, cost reduction, market access, and better realization to farmers.
The government had three years ago accepted Subhash Palekar's natural farming technique, which he had conceptualized, and information on the implementation of the 'Prakritik Kheti Khushhal Kisan Yojana' and future strategies will be given at the summit.
Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, the yojana's Executive Director, will give a lecture on Himachal's best natural agricultural practices. He'll discuss a variety of topics related to natural farming.
About Zero Budget Natural Farming:
Zero Budget Natural farming has also been identified as a promising technique for farmers to reduce their reliance on purchased inputs, reduce the cost of agriculture, and enhance soil health by relying on conventional field-based technology.
It stresses the transition from mono-cropping to a diversified multi-cropping system in agriculture. Desi cows, their manure, and urine play an essential role in the production of numerous farm inputs like Beejamrit, Jivamrit, and Ghanjivamrit, as well as providing nutrients and life to the soil for good agricultural productivity.
Other traditional methods, such as mulching the soil with biomass or maintaining the soil covered with green cover all year, even in extremely low water availability scenarios, are added practices that ensure continued productivity even in the first year of implementation.
