The 12th Edition of the India Chem Exhibition & Conference is being held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The 2-day event marked its beginning today. The Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals of the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers of the Government of India, in cooperation with FICCI, is holding this event. India Chem is one of the largest composite events in the Asia-Pacific area for the chemical industry.

The day proceeded with an exhibition and a round table conference sidewise. The discussion focuses on the Chemical Industry's contribution to India's goal of becoming a USD 5 trillion economy by 2025. The discussion also centers on a number of important problems related to investment facilitation and incentive programs and the growth of downstream sectors.

Arun Baroka, Secretary (Chemicals and Petrochemicals), Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, GOI said “The exhibition came out really well. I hope the exhibition sees the highest level of participation. The Government is fully supporting and thanks to the Petrochemical industry. We have been getting good feedback from the people in the industry. The concerns and issues raised by the industry have been noted and we will make sure to take care of them."

He further added, "This collaboration of government and the industry will answer all the questions raised here. Skilled manpower is the most important thing in our country. The industry gave an estimate that they are employing 2 million people. By my estimate, we need more skilled manpower to reach the goals of the industry. Now how do we attract this manpower? Our academics need to bring in courses that train in skills and not just for degrees. To make sure our sector is well taken care of, this is a basic necessity.”

From the CEO Forum, it was reported that “We need to ensure we have a good working environment for our employees in the private sector while also upskilling them simultaneously.”

Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Chemicals & Fertilizers, GoI “ The way industries have started spreading, the government wishes to build a new India where healthier and holistic approaches need to be adopted within an office environment.  As it's already known the development is nothing new today, we have to look into creating such an ecosystem to boost it further.”
