In response to members' comments during the House debate on demands for money to his ministries, the Minister stated that the scheme would cover 416 children.
He stated that families should be alleviated of their financial burdens in caring for their children, and thus the system was created to alleviate their suffering.
The Minister stated that the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru College of Agriculture and Research (PAJANCOA) in Karaikal would be promoted to an Agricultural University.
Minister of Transport and Adi Dravidar Welfare Chandrapriyanka, who presented her responses to the members' views on her departments, stated that a 'valaikappu' ceremony (baby shower ceremony) for expectant mothers from Scheduled Castes and Tribes would be held through the Department of Adi Dravidar Welfare, and that the scheme would be named after Karaikal Ammayyar (one of the 63 pious devotees or nayanmars of Lord Shiva).
The Minister also established a specific programme to train youngsters from underprivileged backgrounds to become fluent in English. She stated that students in Karaikal would begin receiving coaching in April of this year.
