On Thursday, Punjab and the UK agreed to expand their cooperation in agriculture, information technology, food processing, higher education, sports, public transportation (electric buses), and biomass.

According to an official release, the decision was made during a conference among Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann and British high commissioner to India Alex Ellis, who visited the former in Chandigarh.

During the conference, it was acknowledged that the partnership between Punjab and the UK in these areas has a lot of potential.

Hardworking and resilient Punjabis, according to Mann, has already earned a name for themselves in these fields. The United Kingdom's advanced technology will help in unlocking the immense potential in these sectors.

Inviting British investors to Punjab, the chief minister stated that the state government will provide all investors with a one-window online clearance.

According to Mann, the Punjab administration would ensure a smooth and hassle-free process for investors in the state, and he is already in contact with a big number of potential investors from the United Kingdom.

The chief minister raised the topic of a direct route from Chandigarh to London's Heathrow Airport, saying that this trip will serve as a window for Punjabis to reach the western world. Several airlines have already contacted Mann to begin flights if the application is approved, according to Mann.

The British high commissioner told the chief minister that he would provide all available assistance in this matter.

He stated that the UK is eager to increase investment in these critical areas. Ellis also praised the chief minister's zero-tolerance approach to corruption, claiming that it will help enhance investor confidence in the state.
