Delhiites can finally have a sigh of relief as the sweltering heatwave conditions that had gripped the region have come to an end. The IMD's Regional Centre in Delhi has issued green alerts until June 6, allowing residents to plan their outdoor activities without the stress of the scorching sun beating them down.

The IMD has forecasted thunderstorms with rain in Delhi on June 3 and 4, which will further bring relief from the heat. Despite the respite, temperatures are anticipated to still reach a high of 45 degrees Celsius and a low of 30 degrees Celsius on these days.

The broader region, including northwest, central, and eastern India, is expected to see a great deal of dwindling in the heatwave intensity over the next three days due to predicted rainfall.

Recent data shows a noticeable dip in maximum temperatures across several regions. East Madhya Pradesh saw a decrease of 3-4 degrees Celsius, while interior Odisha, Vidarbha, and Punjab experienced a drop of 2-3 degrees Celsius.

Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh, and East Rajasthan also saw a decrease of 1-2 degrees Celsius. However, temperatures remained high, ranging from 43-45 degrees Celsius in parts of north Rajasthan, south Haryana, north Madhya Pradesh, and southeast Madhya Pradesh, and 41-43 degrees Celsius in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, south Rajasthan, parts of west Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Telangana, and south interior Odisha.

In neighboring Rajasthan, light rain with thundershowers brought some relief. More rain is expected in Bikaner, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Ajmer, and Jodhpur divisions.

The Southwest Monsoon has also advanced into the remaining parts of Lakshadweep, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and parts of Karnataka, Rayalaseema, and Andhra Pradesh. Conditions are favorable for further advancement into Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra Pradesh over the next three days.

The IMD predicts isolated very light-to-light rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan over the coming days. Similar conditions are expected in Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, and several northeastern states will experience widespread light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms over the next week.

The anticipated rainfall and thunderstorms across various regions promise much-needed relief from the relentless heat waves, bringing cooler temperatures and a refreshing change to the weather pattern.
