A couple from Australia has successfully grown a giant cabbage, which is almost as big as an individual. It seems that they managed to keep off the pests for more than 9 months from the crop.

Rosemary Norwood and her husband Sean Cadman, who live in Jackeys Marsh, Australia started growing the giant vegetable in April last year (2018) at their eco-tourism guesthouse in Tasmania.

While speaking to CNN, Norwood said while it did not always do well, she attributed the achievement to ‘a good, wet spring, good rain and warm weather in the early summer’. The duo also trimmed nearby cabbages to allow the enormous vegetable to grow at its own speed.

Norwood and Cadman also kept starving pests such as possums and wallabies out with a wire fence and had placed the vegetable under a fine net to stop butterflies and slugs from attacking it. The couple said the cabbage ended up big enough to provide food for almost two weeks.
