According to a consensus by the Consumer Health Division of Bayer, more than 2 billion people globally suffer from micro-nutrient deficiencies, with nearly half living in India.

Thus, to address the pressing issue of declining nutrient content in food, SML Limited (formerly known as Sulphur Mills Limited) organized a seminar on World Nutrition Day on May 28, 2024, in Delhi. The event brought together industry experts, including Dr. Soumitra Das (Asia Pacific, International Zinc Association), Dr. Ravindra Giri (Senior Project Manager, Biofortified Crops at International Food Policy Research Institute), and Ms. Komal Shah Bukhanwala (Director of IP & R&D, SML Limited), to discuss this critical issue with farmers.

As part of the program, Dr. Ravindra Giri and Dr. Soumitra Das highlighted that intensive cropping systems have led to an imbalance in soil nutrition, resulting in decreased soil fertility. This imbalance in soil nutrition directly affects the nutritional quality of the food produced and, ultimately, our health. They pointed out that using balanced soil nutrition is a simpler method to achieve biofortification, helping farmers increase both yield and nutritional content.

Ms. Komal Shah from SML Limited showcased the company's nutrition products such as Fertis, Techno Z, and Trackon Gold, which provide balanced nutrition to the soil. These products have a high Nutrient Use Efficiency (NUE), meaning that even at low dosages, they have a significant impact.

Notably, SML Limited remains committed to creating a sustainable future by ensuring balanced soil nutrition, which in turn leads to more nutritious food for all.
