Severe Cold Conditions to Persist over Entire North India; Delhi-NCR Records Coldest December Day in 22 years

Due to low level clouds and cold north-northwesterly winds over northern parts of the country, cold day to severe cold day conditions are very likely to continue in many parts of India today, says the weather department in its latest forecast. Moreover, it’s likely to intensity from 19 December and abate thereafter. On the other hand, dense fog is very likely in isolated pockets over Uttar Pradesh, north Madhya Pradesh, north Chhattisgarh, Bihar, south Assam & Meghalaya and Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura in the morning hours during next 24 hours.

On the other hand, dense fog is very likely in isolated pockets over Uttar Pradesh, north Madhya Pradesh, north Chhattisgarh, Bihar, south Assam & Meghalaya and Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura in the morning hours during next 24 hours.

As per yesterday’s report, severe Cold Day conditions were observed in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and north Rajasthan; in some pockets over West Madhya Pradesh and in isolated pockets over East Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Besides, cold day conditions were observed in most pockets over south Rajasthan and in some pockets over West Madhya Pradesh.

Delhi Weather

The National Capital was reported to be 3 degree Celsius on Tuesday night, breaking the record of minimum temperature of last 22 years in Delhi. Moreover, the city is blanketed with dense fog in the early morning hours which created lots of hindrance in visibility. On the other hand, heavy snowfall lashed over Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir Valley since yesterday night and blocked the transportation service across the affected areas.

As per yesterday’s report, isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu & Puducherry & Karaikal observed heavy rainfall

As per yesterday’s report, maximum temperatures were recorded above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over Konkan & Goa; at isolated places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Kerala & Mahe and Assam & Meghalaya while minimum temperatures were markedly above normal ( 5.1°C or more) at a few places over Chhattisgarh; East Madhya Pradesh and  Jharkhand.
