Shark Tank India, India’s first business reality show wrapped up last month, but fans are still not over it. This show has worked as a catalyst for the booming start-up culture in India. Not just that, this unique show has made entrepreneurship a dining table discussion in India.
Many startups pitched their business ideas and received funding during the show. Among them was Jugaadu Kamlesh’s ‘KG Agrotech’. Kamlesh Nanasaheb Ghumare hardly needs any introduction; he has become quite a start after his appearance on the show.
Why did Peyush Bansal Invest in Jugaadu Kamlesh's Idea?
In a recent interview, Peyush Bansal, the founder of Lenskart, who was also the only shark who invested in Kamlesh’s startup told the media what impressed him about Kamlesh and his idea of a ‘Trolley Driven Pesticide Spray’. He said, “Before being a shark, I am a human and I understand Kamlesh's dedication, honesty, hard work, and, most importantly, his positivity and that is exactly what impressed me about him.” He also mentioned that Kamlesh checked off most of his boxes as a potential investment and that he is still working hard to achieve his goals.
According to Lenskart founder, people would have looked at Kamlesh as a brilliant consumer-focused entrepreneur if he had a degree from a prestigious institute and financing.
Shark Tank India – Scripted?
In an interview recently, the sharks stated unequivocally that the show was not scripted. Peyush Bansal stated that while many have questioned the show's fury and turmoil, everything was authentic on air. "We were never allowed to meet the pitchers or even see their presentation in advance." There was perfect confidentiality, and any deals that were made were done on the spot," he explained. Anupam echoed this sentiment, saying that when investing one's own money, one should avoid deceiving people because it will always 'backfire.'
The sharks also discussed how they prefer to invest in entrepreneurs rather than their companies. The team also praised Shark Tank India for being an inclusive platform that provided opportunities to people from all walks of life.
