The menace of stray animals is not yet over in Uttar Pradesh with the latest news on the death of four farmers in the state. According to UP police, four farmers were killed after being allegedly attacked by stray bulls while protecting their crops in separate incidents over the last 48 hours on 28th January.
The incidents were reported from Gonda, Lakhimpur and Badaun districts in Uttar Pradesh.
Station house officer (SHO) of Neemgaon police station, Paan Singh said, “Deen Bandhu – (50 years) of Mudha village was taking care of his crops on Sunday (27th January) morning when he saw a bull in his field. When the farmer tried to run after the animal, it attacked him hence he collapsed on the ground. A few local villagers ran to save him but it was too late. While the animal ran away, Bandhu was declared dead at a local hospital”.
Ujhani Circle Officer (CO) in Badaun Bhushan Verma told that Ram Ladait (30 years) was killed by a bull in Mugarra village on 26th January. He said, “The farmer was at his field when he was attacked by an aggressive stray bull. Locals said the bull attacked Ladait repeatedly while he kept trying to flee but after some time he died on the spot. People tried to follow the bull but it ran away”.
In the meantime, another farmer Jagannath (52 years) was killed in Gonda’s Belanwa town after a bull stabbed him with its horns. Station officer (SO) of Motiganj police station, Gorakhnath Saroj told, “We were not provided with any information about the incident. We came to know about the thing after the farmer’s body was cremated. According to villagers, Jagannath saw a bull grazing at his wheat plantation so he tried to chase it. The bull then attacked him with its horns. Jagannath suffered severe injuries in his stomach and died on the spot because of excessive bleeding.”
A similar incident took place on 27th January morning in Sonauli village. R P Singh, Begumganj police station SO told that a farmer, Siyaram was attacked by a stray bull while trying to protect his crop. He was declared dead at a local hospital.
