Two Day Workshop to Promote Millets Concludes at NIT Sikkim

NIT Sikkim hosted a two-day workshop to promote the effort launched by the Indian government under the title of "International Year of Millets-2023" from March 26th to 27th, 2023, which concluded on March 27.

A step towards sustainability and food security is growing millets. India is making various attempts to promote Shree Ann, both domestically and internationally.

The two-day workshop at NIT Sikkim featured events such as presentations on various issues linked to development, history, and the applications of millets, with Hetshree Rathod taking first place.

The quiz competition harnessed the students' passion to demonstrate their knowledge of numerous types of millets and the various cuisines they played a role in, with  Hetshree Rathod taking first place again, and Debajit Chattarjee taking second place.

The two-day programme was energized by an intense Speech competition dubbed "ShabdBaan," in which kids expressed their thoughts on millets and their promotion.

There was a culinary demonstration and a talk session led by The Millet Man of Andhra Pradesh, K.V Rama Subba Reddy, who pushed the students to include invention and novelty into their work, which was afterwards shown through the means of a Culinary competition.

The workshop was concluded by an inspiring speech by the Director, Prof. Mahesh Chandra Govil, who assured that the Institute will continue to use Millets and will continue to encourage students to learn more and more about the significance of Millets.

The Director also expressed his appreciation to the students for eagerly participating in all the events and has also expressed his hearty gratitude to the guest for being the source of information.
