Weather in India: India Meteorological Department has said that intense spell over Northeast India and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar are likely to continue till August 15.

The Assamese districts of Chirang, Kokrajhar,  Baksa, Barpeta, Upper Siang, West Kameng, Dibang Valley and Lohit are predicted to face the brunt of intense rainfall in upcoming few days, as per the regional meteorological department based in Assam.

Due to these rough weather conditions, IMD has issued an 'Orange Alert' over Assam, Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim & Arunachal Pradesh for Friday and Saturday. This alert helps residents to 'be prepared’ in advance for such weather conditions.

The rough conditions are predicted to subside after 15 August. Accordingly, a yellow watch has been placed over  these territories, thereby instructing people to ‘be aware’ of the local weather conditions. The same alert would persist over Assam, Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim for August 16.

Meghalaya (1548.7 mm), Assam (788.8 mm), Arunachal Pradesh (749.1 mm), Nagaland (556.7 mm), Manipur (390.1 mm), Mizoram (802.8 mm) and Tripura (808.3 mm) have all witnessed ‘deficient’ rains (compared to their respective averages) between June 1 to August 12.

Probability of Cyclonic Circulation:

As per the IMD, a cyclonic circulation is located over west Bihar and the neighbourhood. This system is likely to continue for the next 24 hours and become less marked thereafter.

Furthermore, another cyclonic circulation is predicted to build over northwest Bay of Bengal and west-central region around August 15. It may build a low-pressure area over the same region in the subsequent 48 hours.

Due to the combined effect of all these systems, widespread to fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls are forecasted over Bihar on 14 and 15 August.

Delhi Weather Updates:

Warm weather may persist over the national capital for upcoming seven days. As per IMD forecast, partly cloudy skies and a maximum temperature of 36 degrees Celsius are expected. The minimum temperature is predicted to be 27 degrees Celsius.
