Workshop on Promotion of Climate Resilient Crops/Varieties/Seeds (Climate Resilient/Smart Agriculture) was organised on April 23, 2024 at ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad. Dr. B. Neeraja Prabhakar, Vice-Chancellor, Sri Konda Laxman Telangana State Horticultural University, Mulugu, Dr. C. Tara Satyavathi, Hyderabad, Director, ICAR- Indian Institute of Millets Research, Hyderabad, Dr. Shaik N. Meera, Director, ICAR- Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Zone-x, Hyderabad, Krupa Shankar, State Marketing Manager, IFFCO, Hyderabad, Swati Tiwari, Deputy General Manager, NABARD, Hyderabad, was the Guest of Honours during the programme.

Dr. Prabhakar, highlighted meeting food security by developing and providing climate-resilient varieties and concentrating on secondary agriculture to obtain nutrient security. She urged the need for increased production and quality.

Dr. V. K Singh, Director, ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad, spoke about the contribution made by ICAR-CRIDA in dryland research and stressed the need for the promotion of climate-resilient crops and varieties for sustainable agriculture.

Dr. Satyavathi, highlighted the importance of millets and promotional activities to create awareness about millets. She stressed the use of new methodologies in extension to share the knowledge about the use of Climate Resilient Crops/Varieties.

Dr. Meera accentuated the institute’s work and the success stories of the work done under NICRA-TDC. She also highlighted the importance of secondary agriculture. Shankar spoke about the use of Nano urea and the usage of drone technology for Climate Resilient/Smart Agriculture. Tiwari suggested interdisciplinary coordination at national and international levels to address climatic disasters.

The Experts organized lectures and panel discussions on the promotion of climate-resilient crops, varieties, and seeds. Scientists and staff members from ICAR-CRIDA attended the workshop.
