Coffee Board Plans to Expand Krishi Taranga Service to More Cultivators

The Coffee Board has planned expansion of Krishi Taranga service it started a year ago in alliance with the team of precision agriculture department, which was co-founded by 2019 economics Nobel prize winner Michael Kremer, to cover 50,000 farmers.

The Coffee Board has planned expansion of Krishi Taranga service it started a year ago in alliance with the team of precision agriculture department, which was co-founded by 2019 economics Nobel prize winner Michael Kremer, to cover 50,000 farmers.

Under Michael Kremer's guidance and leadership precision Agriculture Department, has been working with Coffee Board of India to address the needs of coffee growers through coffee Krishi Taranga service.

Srivatsa Krishna, CEO and secretary of Coffee Board said that "We have been able to have a positive impact on the lives of 15,000 coffee farmers using a simple missed call service , free of cost to the".

The service was started about a year ago and involves a weekly advisory on critical farm operations, updated daily market information through an automatic push call via a simple missed call by enrolled coffee farmers to the call centre.

The farmers were called back and were given detailed expert advice on various specific farmer issues, through this platform expert agronomists of Central Coffee Research Institute. The board has resolute to expand it to cover more farmers seeing its success.
