Expert Consultation Meeting on Identification of Best Practices in Livestock, Fodder Production and Management

The Expert Consultation Meeting on “Identification of best practices in livestock and fodder production and management” for the SAARC countries organized by the ICAR-National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology, Bengaluru concluded last week. The meet sponsored by the SAARC Agricultural Centre, Bangladesh was organized from 21st to 23rd May, 2019.

The Expert Consultation Meeting on “Identification of best practices in livestock and fodder production and management” for the SAARC countries organized by the ICAR-National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology, Bengaluru concluded last week. The meet sponsored by the SAARC Agricultural Centre, Bangladesh was organized from 21st to 23rd May, 2019. 

The Chief Guest of the valedictory ceremony, Dr. A. Paturkar, Vice-Chancellor, MAFSU, Nagpur lauded the excellent research work being carried out by the Scientists of NIANP. He opined for the need of a Memorandum of Understanding between the NIANP and MAFSO for the student exchange and collaborative research programmes. Dr. Paturkar also shared his views regarding the emerging threats including climate change and anti-microbial resistance. 

Earlier, the Chief Guest of the inaugural ceremony on 21st May, 2019, Dr. J.K. Jena, DDG (Fisheries & Animal Sciences) applauded the initiatives. He also urged for more cooperation among the member countries in the areas of mutual interests. Dr. Jena opined for increase in the number of participants during the next meeting for having the better participation. 

Dr. Raghavendra Bhatta, Director, NIANP, the nominated Indian Representative by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India also marked his presence during the meeting. 

Dr. A.K. Samanta, Senior Programme Specialist, SAC, Dhaka outlined the overview about the SAC activities. The three-day long meeting concluded with the certificate distribution to the students and participants. The country representatives from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and India attended the meeting.
