India’s leading Agri-drone manufacturer IoTechWorld Avigation has become India’s first drone start up to have received first government subsidy for the promotion of drone technology in agriculture sector.

Incidentally, IoTechWorld Avigation is also India’s first drone manufacturer to have received Type Certificate (TC) from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India on 14 June, 2022.

Shankaranand Chowgule, a farmer from Maharashtra and also a customer of IoTech Avigation is the first beneficiary of this government scheme in the country. He received subsidy in the month of March, 2023. A number of other farmers too benefited from the scheme.

This government scheme, under which a farmer who deploys drone for farming receives up to Rs. 4 lakh or the 40% cost of drone to the farmers, except agriculture graduates, SC/ST, North-East marginal farmers.

Agriculture graduates, marginal farmers belonging to SC/ST or North East can avail a subsidy of 50% of the cost of drone or a maximum of Rs. 5 Lakh under the scheme launched by Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India under Sub-mission on Agriculture Mechanization.

On the development, Anoop Kumar Upadhyay, Co-Founder & Director, IoTechWorld Avigation said, “Government of India is taking umpteen initiate to modernize and transform the agriculture sector in India not only to double farmers’ income but also to make them competent to their peers across the world. This scheme helps the forward-looking farmers immensely and others who haven’t heard or used it should make the best out of it.”

“Chowgule and other farmers who are using agri-drones are future of India’s agriculture sector. We foresee a dramatic change in India’s agriculture landscape in future. Not only will it help the country to meet its own foodgrain demand, but also we are set to produce for the world too,” said Deepak Bhardwaj, Co-Founder and Director of IoTechWorld Avigation.

As per agriculture specialists, the use of drone in agriculture not only make farmers’ job easier and more efficient, but also help increase the productivity and reduce wastage.
