Roquette, a global leader in plant-based ingredients and a plant protein pioneer, has announced the launch of two rice proteins, a bold move that adds a new botanical origin to its current portfolio. Roquette offers consumers a familiar, safe, and nutritious alternative protein with premium quality and high production standards with NUTRALYS rice protein.

Roquette's rice protein will be unveiled for the first time at the IFT FIRST event in Chicago on July 10-13. This announcement represents a new step in the group's commitment to creating a new plant-based cuisine that promotes healthier lifestyles.

Rice protein is widely used in a variety of nutritional applications, including special diet foods, sports nutrition, and snacks. According to Innova Market Insights, product launches containing rice protein increased at a 20 percent CAGR between 2017 and 2021. Rice is a well-known, familiar ingredient for savoury foods and desserts, so dairy (+38 percent CAGR over 2019-2021) and meat alternative applications (+122 percent CAGR over 2019-2021) are expected to grow rapidly.

NUTRALYS rice protein provides a non-GM, gluten-free, and tasty plant-protein source to health-conscious consumers looking for plant-based foods and beverages to support their active lifestyle when combined with NUTRALYS pea protein for complete vegetarian protein supplementation.

According to an Innova 2020 survey, rice is the second most popular protein option among consumers. The new NUTRALYS rice protein range, which includes a rice protein isolate and a rice protein concentrate, will be available first in North America and Europe. Roquette assists customers in attracting new customers who are looking for a broader range of appealing and well-known plant proteins.

Rice protein has good dispersibility and flowability due to its fine particle size, which contributes to a smooth and soft texture, and an appealing light cream colour. This opens up new possibilities in fields like specialized nutrition, especially when combined with other plant proteins like pea protein.

NUTRALYS is a well-known global brand for premium plant proteins, and the introduction of this new rice protein line demonstrates how Roquette is uniquely positioned to respond to the current food revolution by entering a new growing market.

"There is an unstoppable food revolution underway that is changing how people eat," says Jeremy Burks, senior vice president of Plant Proteins at Roquette. “Consumers in the United States and Europe want more plant-based protein that tastes good while also being nutritious and safe. Building on our more than 40 years of plant protein expertise, we now offer a new rice protein to stay ahead of this shift and continue to build the plant-based cuisine of the future! At Roquette, we strive to be the best partner for all of our customers and food enthusiasts."
