In anticipation of the looming farmers' agitation, the Chandigarh administration has taken preventive measures by enacting Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), effectively prohibiting gatherings of five or more individuals within the city limits. The decision, enforced under the orders of the District Magistrate, UT, Chandigarh, comes as a response to the expected farmers' march and agitation scheduled for February 13, spanning across Haryana, Punjab, and the Delhi border.

A statement released by the Chandigarh police underscored concerns regarding potential tension, agitation, and disturbance during the forthcoming protests. To maintain law and order, the administration has opted for stringent measures, emphasizing the need for adequate arrangements to ensure the safety and security of citizens within the city.

On February 13, two major farmer organizations, the ‘Sanyukta Kisan Morcha’ and ‘Kisan Majdoor Morcha’ raised the slogan 'Dilli Chalo' to voice their demands. Meanwhile, the ‘Sanyukta Kisan Morcha’ called for a one-day nationwide rural India shutdown on February 16. In this context, Krishi Jagran attempted to speak with the senior national leader of the ‘Sanyukta Kisan Morcha’, Chaudhary Yudhvir Singh, to understand their stance on the farmer agitation scheduled for February 13. He stated, "We are all fighting against the government for the same demands. The only difference is that our ways of opposing are different, but the demand is the same." He further added, "If they seek support from us in the agitation, we will definitely help them. However, they haven't sought any support from us yet."

With tensions running high, authorities are leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to maintain law and order while ensuring the safety and security of all residents. As the region braces for potential disruptions, cooperation between the public and law enforcement agencies remains paramount to navigate through this challenging period.
