After 2 months, several flights resumed early this morning from various airports in the country. But there was chaos and confusion at airports as many flights were canceled without informing passengers. As many as 82 flights were canceled in Delhi and passengers were not informed about it. Mumbai airport will be handling 25 outgoing and 25 incoming flights on a daily basis.
Angry passengers were waiting at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Terminal 3 when 82 flights from and to Delhi were canceled. People claim that they were not informed until the last minute. The Delhi airport will handle 125 departures and 118 arrivals today. According to airport officials, cancellations happened on the account of various states, as they told the center that they will not operate flights as agreed earlier.
Outside the departure terminal in Mumbai, long queues were seen. As security personals were doing thermal screening and checking whether the passengers have downloaded Aarogya Setu App, it took longer than usual to enter the airport.
Chennai and Bengaluru airports too have faced chaos and disappointment. Passengers were helpless as their tickets have been cancelled without any notification.
Northeast states too faced disruption. Flights only arrived in Guwahati and Manipur's Imphal airports. Other flights to Aizawl, Dimapur, Silchar and Agartala were cancelled. The reason being the Kolkata airport is not functional because of Cyclone Amphan.
Guidelines were issued by Health Ministry on Sunday about domestic travel. Passengers were advised to download the Aarogya Setu app on their mobile phones. States were told to do thermal screening at the departure of airports, bus terminals and railway stations.
