Following the clashes between two groups during a procession organized by the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) in Nuh district on Monday, tensions escalated in various districts of Haryana, including Nuh, Gurgaon, Sohna, and Manesar.
Haryana Unrest: Sections Imposed in Different Regions
In response, administrations in Delhi, Gurgaon, and Noida have implemented restrictions in the affected regions to maintain order and prevent further unrest.
Nuh: Section 144 has been imposed, restricting gatherings of more than four individuals and organizing rallies, protests, or processions without prior approval from the police authorities. Additionally, mobile internet services in the Nuh district have been temporarily suspended until Wednesday.
Gurugram: In the Sohna sub-division of Gurugram, all educational institutions will remain closed, while the rest of the city maintains normalcy, with schools, colleges, and workplaces operating as usual. Gurugram ACP Varun Dahiya (Crime) confirmed that traffic movement remains unrestricted, and internet services are functioning. Citizens were urged to disregard social media rumours and report any information to the helpline number '112'.
Media reports indicate that internet services have been suspended in Sohna, Manesar, and Pataudi until further notice, and physical classes in schools will remain suspended until August 2. As a result, many office-goers have opted for remote work as advised by their employers.
Notably, fuel stations in Gurugram have been directed to refrain from selling loose petrol and diesel to individuals, except in emergencies. Additionally, the public has been requested to exercise caution and avoid posting content on social media that could potentially offend religious sentiments. The Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram emphasized the significance of safeguarding communal harmony and prevention of tensions in the district.
Noida: According to recent reports, Noida in the Gautam Buddh Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh is currently under the implementation of CrPC Section 144 restrictions. These restrictions have been in effect since July 20 and will remain active until August 3.
Delhi: In response to ongoing protests and amid apprehensions of suspected VHP protests in various parts of Delhi, the Traffic Police has announced road closures. Security measures have been significantly intensified as the VHP has identified 23 potential protest sites, with officials suggesting the possibility of additional locations being included. Moreover, the organization has called for a Bharat Bandh in protest against the Nuh violence.
As a result of the recent escalation, triggered by a fresh wave of violence in Gurugram's Bhadshahpur area, an eatery was set ablaze, and nearby shops were vandalized by a mob on Tuesday afternoon. The targeted shops belonged to a particular community, and the mob even chanted slogans near a mosque in Badshahpur, prompting the authorities to shut down the Badshahpur market for safety reasons.
