Heat Waves: Top 20 Hottest Places in India and World

Millions of people in India are now witnessing severe heat wave that has increased the temperatures to over 40 degree Celsius in many parts of north India. Considering this situation, Weather department has issued a Heat-Wave Alert for several Indian states especially northern plains, as the south-west monsoon has been delayed this year.

Millions of people in the country are now witnessing severe heat wave that has increased the temperatures to over 40 degree Celsius in many parts of north India. Considering this situation, Weather department has issued a Heat-Wave Alert for several Indian states especially the northern plains. 

Heat Wave is as an extreme weather condition. It is a period when the actual maximum temperature is greater than the normal temperature, which is greater than 40 degrees Celsius. 

At Present, July is becoming much hotter just like May and June. It's not just in India but other countries are also facing extreme hot temperatures. For example, a Pacific Northwest heat wave has killed at least 95 people in Oregon in the USA, a number that State's Governor called “Absolutely Unacceptable." 

Hottest Places in India: 

As per report, the maximum heat-wave deaths were in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Odisha. Core Heat-wave Zone is the most prone area for a heat-wave and it covers Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana.

Below are the 10 hottest place in India as per Indian Meteorological Department:

  • Fatehgarh (Uttar Pradesh): 42.5 degrees Celsius

  • Gurugram (Haryana): 41.8 degrees Celsius

  • Ganganagar (Rajasthan): 41.8 degrees Celsius

  • Hisar (Haryana): 41.7 degrees Celsius

  • Sawai Madhopur (Rajasthan): 41.4 degrees Celsius

  • Bathinda (Punjab): 40 degrees Celsius

  • Delhi: 39.5 degrees Celsius

  • Una (Himachal Pradesh): 39.4 degrees Celsius

  • Chandigarh: 38.2 degrees Celsius

  • Kathua (Jammu and Kashmir): 38 degrees Celsius

Recently, Severe Heat-Waves of Canada and USA  has grabbed the worldwide attention. This summer season, has witnessed record-breaking temperatures that usually don't happen. Now, below are some of the hottest places in the world right now:

  • Al-Jahra, Kuwait (53.5 degrees Celsius)

Health Risks of Extreme Heat:

Four major health risks resulting from excessive exposure to heat-waves includes dehydration, exhaustion, cramps and heatstroke. Furthermore, there is also an increase in the number of cases of anxiety, palpitations, nervousness and behavioral changes due  to extreme temperature rise.
