IMD Issues Orange Alert in Bihar; Heavy Rainfall Likely in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh & Northeast States

Weather India: Continuous rainfall has badly hit normal life in many parts of India, especially in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar during the last few days. Till now, over 150 people have lost their lives due to heavy downpour in both the states. However, Bihar seems to be worst hit with water swaying all over the state.

Weather India: Continuous rainfall has badly hit normal life in many parts of India, especially in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar during the last few days. Till now, over 150 people have lost their lives due to heavy downpour in both the states. However, Bihar seems to be worst hit with water swaying all over the state.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert in Patna, Begusarai, Khagaria and Vaishali districts of Bihar for 3rd and 4th October (Today & Tomorrow). People have been asked to stay inside their homes to prevent any mishap.  The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team has rescued more than ten thousand people from the state capital. The rescue teams have been dropping people at safer places since last 2-3 days.

Now talking about Uttar Pradesh, here cities like Lucknow, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Faizabad, Amethi, Gonda, Raibarelly, Chandauli and Prayagraj, will witness moderate rainfall along with thundershowers with one or two heavy spells in the next 24 hours. However, these showers will not trigger flood-like situation. After that, weather will become dry in most parts of Uttar Pradesh as the system would start weakening. But, isolated showers may continue over Eastern parts of the state.

Scattered light to moderate rainfall is likely over northeast states including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Fairly widespread showers and thunderstorms are likely in Jharkhand and few parts of Odisha.

Light rainfall is also possible over East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, North Odisha, West Bengal and Maharashtra.

Coming towards South India, here states like Telangana, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Interior Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andaman & Nicobar Islands too will get to see scattered light rainfall and thunderstorms.

Isolated rainfall is also expected over Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi, Punjab and Rajasthan. Weather in Delhi as well as NCR (Gurugram, Noida etc) has been normal since past few days with possibility of showers in the weekend.
