The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has taken a significant step towards promoting eco-cultural tourism by launching a project in a village located in the West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh. The project aims to attract tourists by combining the ecological and cultural aspects of the region.

The project was officially inaugurated on Friday at Kabu village by NABARD General Manager, Partho Saha, according to a statement released on Saturday. Saha expressed his belief in the immense potential of Arunachal Pradesh for eco-cultural tourism, stating that it offers an ideal getaway for city dwellers who seek relaxation amidst pristine nature. The Young Men's Adventure Club (YMAC) has been entrusted with the responsibility of implementing the project. Saha emphasized the importance of sensitizing entrepreneurs about the significance of conservation and its role in sustainable tourism.

Another vital component of the project is the preservation, promotion, and propagation of the unique culture of the Galo community, as highlighted by the NABARD official. Saha explained that through the establishment of homestays and the proposed 'Ethnographic Centre,' the project partners aim to provide visitors with a glimpse into local cuisines, traditional weaving and handicrafts, folklore, tribal religion, mythology, livelihoods, and family structures.

While these cultural experiences are expected to captivate tourists, they also hold great potential for generating substantial income for all stakeholders involved, Saha added. NABARD's District Development Manager (DDM), O. P. Mounglang, praised Kabu village for its outstanding cleanliness and acknowledged its recognition as the cleanest village in the district, having received the prestigious award for two consecutive years.

The project initiated by NABARD in collaboration with YMAC and the local community is a significant stride towards sustainable tourism in Arunachal Pradesh. It not only aims to boost the local economy but also strives to preserve the rich cultural heritage and pristine environment of the region.

With the combined efforts of various stakeholders, this initiative is set to create new opportunities for both tourists and the local community, ensuring a harmonious blend of cultural exploration and ecological conservation.
