Organic farming has emerged as a powerful tool to boost farmers' income while simultaneously promoting consumer health, according to Minister for Agriculture Kakani Govardhan Reddy of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.). The minister expressed these sentiments during his participation as a guest in a program dedicated to organic farming held in Attaluru village, located in the Amaravati mandal of Palnadu district.

During the event, Minister Govardhan Reddy engaged in discussions with experienced farmers who have been practicing organic agriculture for an extended period. His visit included an inspection of a papaya field that was cultivated using organic methods, where he interacted with the farmer to gain insights into their practices. The minister also took the opportunity to inquire about the organic manure production units in the village, which have supported the transition of approximately 400 farmers to organic farming over the span of eight years.

The local farmers' association proudly informed the minister that they cultivate a diverse range of vegetables, fruits, and other crops, supplying them to markets in Guntur and various other cities. This robust agricultural system demonstrates the potential of organic farming to not only improve farmers' livelihoods but also meet the growing demand for healthy and sustainable produce.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Govardhan Reddy emphasized that the future lies in organic products, urging farmers in the state to contemplate adopting this approach. He highlighted that organic farming reduces the chemical burden on the soil, paving the way for a healthier and more sustainable agricultural ecosystem. By embracing organic practices, farmers can enhance the fertility and productivity of their land, while consumers benefit from access to chemical-free, nutritious food.

The minister's endorsement of organic farming comes at a crucial time when concerns about the harmful effects of chemical-based agriculture are rising. Organic farming methods prioritize natural inputs, such as organic manure, compost, and bio-fertilizers, which nourish the soil and foster a balanced ecosystem.

Moreover, organic produce is known to be free from harmful residues and pesticides, making it a safer and healthier choice for consumers.
