Pan-Aadhaar Linking Last Date Extended; Check Other Important Details

The Central government has extended the deadline for linking Pan & Adhaar Card. The revised deadline for Pan – Aadhaar Linking is 31st March 2022 which earlier was 30th September2021.

The Central government has extended the deadline for linking Pan & Adhaar Card. The revised deadline for Pan – Aadhaar Linking is 31st March 2022 which earlier was 30th September 2021. 

The Central Board of Direct Taxes announced that the extension of the last date for linking the two identification cards is done to provide relief to taxpayers & address difficulties faced amid the Covid 19 Pandemic. This means that the citizens can now link the two cards by the end of this financial year. 

PAN Card is important for completing several financial transactions where quoting PAN card is necessary. Linking Permanent Account Number & Aadhaar Card is compulsory to complete income Tax related activities such as filing Income –Tax Returns (ITRs) 

NOTE: Your PAN card may become inoperative if it is not linked with the Aadhaar card before the stipulated deadline. You may not be able to carry financial transactions where it's mandatory to provide PAN card details. Additionally, you will have to pay Rs 1000 as late fee after 31st March, 2022. 

How to Link PAN with Aadhaar? 

  • Log on to the Income Tax e-filing website.

  • Click on Link Aadhaar Option

  • Enter the Correct Permanent Account Number, Adhaar Number & your exactly as mentioned on your Aadhaar card. 

  • Enter your Date of Birth and Other relevant fields

  • Enter the Captcha Code & Finally click on the link Aadhaar button at the bottom

Or 

  • You can also link your PAN with your Aadhaar Card by sending SMS to 567678 or 56161.

  • Type: UIDPAN<space><12 digit Aadhaar Card Number><space> <10 Digit Pan>

  • After sending the SMS to the above-mentioned numbers, Aadhaar Number will be linked to your

  • PAN Number if the name & Date of Birth are the same as mentioned in both the documents.
