Revival of Northeast Monsoon to Bring Heavy Rainfall in These States; Delhi Air Quality Remains Severe

Weather India: According to the Weather Department, a Western Disturbance in form of a cyclonic circulation is located over neighboring Pakistan & moving Eastward. Due to this condition there will be heavy rainfall or snowfall along with thunderstorms over Jammu and Kashmir as well as Himachal Pradesh. Also there could be scattered rainfall over west Rajasthan and neighboring areas today (15 November 2019).

Weather India: According to the Weather Department, a Western Disturbance in form of a cyclonic circulation is located over neighboring Pakistan & moving Eastward. Due to this condition there will be heavy rainfall or snowfall along with thunderstorms over Jammu and Kashmir as well as Himachal Pradesh. Also there could be scattered rainfall over west Rajasthan and neighboring areas today (15 November 2019).

Talking about the Northern Plains - there could be isolated showers over Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, East Rajasthan and west Gujarat. The weather in Delhi will be cool and cloudy due to severe pollution or smog. The air quality in the national capital stands at ‘severe’ category on Friday morning. As per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi's air quality index (AQI) was 465 at 6.30 am today morning. This was against the total AQI reading of 463 on 14 November 2019.

The authorities in Delhi along with the pollution monitoring agencies will examine the situation and take measures accordingly. Schools will remain closed till any further notice. People have also been asked to stay careful.

On the other hand, revival of Northeast Monsoon is set to affect Southern part of the country. Scattered rainfall and thunderstorms are expected over states like Kerala, Tamil Nadu & Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Also there will be scattered rainfall & thunderstorms in Andaman & Nicobar and Kerala Islands tomorrow (16 November). Weather department said that rainfall will continue in these states for the next two days.

The weather in many north-east states including, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Sikkim will remain dry for the time being. Neighboring states like  West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and Odisha will be dry.

Other states in India that will witness no rainfall are - Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, some parts of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Telangana and Chhattisgarh.
