Union Minister Launches 4E Wave: A Youth-Led National Movement for Energy Conservation

Minister R. K. Singh highlighted that the 4E Wave movement signifies a resolute commitment to mitigate the impact of harmful carbon emissions and pave the way for a sustainable energy future.

The Union Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy, R. K. Singh, officially inaugurated the 4E Wave, a pioneering student-led National Movement for Energy Conservation. The launch event, held in the presence of Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, took place in Delhi on December 7, 2023.

The primary objective of the 4E Wave is to foster sustainable practices and cultivate a sense of responsibility among individuals and communities to save energy. The movement encapsulates four fundamental elements:

  1. Eco-friendliness: Promoting energy-saving practices that are environmentally friendly.

  2. Economy: Emphasizing energy-saving solutions that lead to economic benefits for individuals and communities.

  3. Education: Focusing on educating the public about energy-saving methods and their importance.

  4. Empowerment: Empowering individuals and communities to take active roles in conserving energy.

The initiative, originating from the students of Government College of Engineering & Technology (GCET), Jammu, has garnered support from the J&K Power Development Department, Government of J&K, and the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, Government of India. The movement invites participation from individuals across the nation to contribute to the noble cause of energy conservation.

During the launch ceremony, the Minister unveiled the official web portal of the movement, accessible at www.4ewave.com. This platform provides an interactive space for citizens nationwide to share information and resources related to energy conservation. The user-friendly portal involves a straightforward registration process for onboarding participants, who receive certificates of acknowledgment.

Any Indian citizen is welcome to join the campaign, offering personalized energy-saving tips, regular updates on the latest developments in energy conservation, and a dynamic platform for sharing articles in the quarterly e-magazine named 'e-kshitij.' The portal will also host contests focusing on energy conservation, enhancing the interactive experience for users.

Expressing his appreciation, the Lieutenant Governor of J&K commended the active participation of the region's youth in this noble cause. He emphasized that the initiative would significantly contribute to promoting the National Cause of Energy Conservation and play a crucial role in safeguarding the planet.

By actively participating in the 4E Wave campaign, individuals contribute to reducing carbon footprints and foster a collective responsibility for a more sustainable and eco-friendly future. He extended an invitation to all Indian citizens to be part of this impactful journey toward energy conservation and a sustainable future.

The launch event was attended by the Principal Secretary to the Government, J&K Power Development Department, H Rajesh Prasad, and other senior officers from J&K and CPSUs.
