Weather in India: Heavy Rainfall & Thunderstorm Likely over These States; Assam Flood Death Toll Rises to 90

Under the influence, rainfall intensity and distribution over Northwest India most likely to reduce significantly from tomorrow, the 23rd July, 2020, says IMD reports in its morning bulletin.

Assam flood misery worsens as toll nears 90

The flood situation in Assam deteriorated on Wednesday with two more persons losing their lives, even as the number of people affected rose to over 26 lakh across 26 districts, an official bulletin said.

Heavy Rain Likely over These States Today

Under the influence of the above meteorological conditions:

i) Rainfall intensity and distribution over Northwest India most likely to reduce significantly from tomorrow, the 23rd July, 2020. Some reduction in rainfall intensity over Northeast India also very likely from 24th July due to likely southward shifting of the eastern end of the Monsoon trough.

ii) Widespread rainfall activity with a) Isolated heavy falls very likely over Central, East & Northeast India and Maharashtra during next 3 days and decrease in intensity thereafter. b) Isolated extremely heavy falls also very likely over Assam & Meghalaya on 22nd & 23rd July and over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim on 22nd July.

Intense thunderstorm & lightning potential zone:

Moderate to severe thunderstorm & lightning at isolated places very likely over East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal and Telangana during next 12 hours.

Maximum & Minimum Temperature

Maximum temperatures are appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at many places over Madhya Pradesh and Madhya Maharashtra; at a few places over East Rajasthan, Gujarat state, Vidarbha, South Interior Karnataka and Kerala & Mahe while Minimum temperatures are above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at most places over Kerala & Mahe; at many places over Gujarat Region.
