This Innovative Farmer First Beneficiary Associated with GADVASU Gets Honored at National Level

By adopting Integrated-Framing-System S. Jagtar Singh is getting good income around the year. He is growing horticultural crops on about 1.5 acres of land along with crops and dairy farming.

S. Jagtar Singh an innovative farmer awarded at the National level with the “Innovative Farmer Award” for adopting the “Integrated-Framing-System (IFS); Agri-Horti-Dairy Model” under the theme "Doubling Farmers Income" on the occasion of Foundation Day of ICAR-NAARM at Hyderabad.

S. Jagtar Singh of village-Moom, is the beneficiary farmer and associated with Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana under Farmer FIRST Project since November 2016. Initially, he was cultivating only rice and wheat and was not earning much profit from this monoculture.

After participation in this Project, he came across various technological interventions through awareness camps, scientist-farmer-interactions, training programs and exposure visits, demonstration of various technological inputs viz; Mineral Mixture, Uromin lick, Bypass fat, Mastitis detection kit, First-Aid Kit, summer-winter vegetable kits. Different kits were provided to the farmers by the project team members.

By adopting Integrated-Framing-System he is getting good income around the year. He is growing horticultural crops on about 1.5 acres of land along with crops and dairy farming.

He is a perfect example of the promotion of the IFS Model. He has not only created livelihood as well as nutritional security for himself but also motivated many other farmers in the operational area.

Farmer FIRST Project is funded by the ICAR, New Delhi. Dr. P.S. Brar, Director of Extension Education is the Nodal officer of the Project and Dr. Y.S. Jadoun is the Principal Investigator of the project. Dr. Brar appreciated the collaborative efforts of the project team members for this success.

Dr. Rajbir Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Zone-I, congratulated the team for the successful implementation of the project and for creating a good number of entrepreneurs through their various technological interventions and services of the University.

Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor, GADVASU commended the hard work of the project team and said that such innovative farmers are the epitome of other small and marginal farmers and can play a crucial role in doubling the farmers' income.
