Let us take a look at some amazing indoor plants that can thrive in a windowless office space.

Pothos- Epipremnum aureum also known as pothos or money plant is a popular variety of plant that produces beautiful variegated heart-shaped leaves. Pothos are tropical vines that grow out of their pots. They have a shallow root system but require lateral support to grow properly. This plant should not be kept in direct sunlight and should be watered only when the top layer of soil is dry to the touch. However, high level of humidity should be maintained around it. This plant can be fertilized sparingly with an all-purpose houseplant fertilizer.

Sansevieria Francisii- This variety of snake plants is native to Kenya and is known for truck-shaped upturned leaves. It leaves tapers towards the end and comes out in dark green to light colour. It requires a partially shaded sun and its root cannot tolerate waterlogging.

Spider plant- The spider plant or Chlorophytum comosum is a highly adaptable house plant that gets its name from its spider-like green offshoots. These plants can be grown in hanging baskets or pots. Not only do they require low-light but they can also survive in artificial light. This plant needs to be watered regularly. They also thrive in humidity, therefore, so give them a little spritz once every day. Due to their slow growth, this plant needs to be repotted in new growing medium once every 2 to 3 years.

ZZ plant- ZZ plant or Zamioculcas Zamiifolia is a plant native to the continent of Africa. This plant produces upright arching stems that are covered with dark green leaves in low-light and even artificial light conditions. It is also a drought-resistant plant as it doesn’t need to be watered regularly. Not only does this plant require to be watered once every 2 weeks or so but it also only need to be fed fertilizer twice a year.

Sansevieria Trifasciata- Also known as ‘Black Gold,’ sansevieria trifasciata is a perennial snake plant that has dark green leaves and striking golden-yellow edges. This plant can grow 90 cm tall and even bare tubular flowers in late summer. Many people choose to keep this plant in their bedroom, office cubicles, or living room because of its air-filtering properties.

Prayer plant- Maranta Leuconeura or prayer plant is an indoor plant that can thrive in shallow pots. This plant produces beautiful perennial oval-shaped leaves with a beautiful pattern which is a combination of white, red, and green colours. Other than its beautiful vibrant foliage, the leaves of this plant have the ability to fold like praying hands during the night. This plant can be hung from windows or be kept in a corner of a room that receive indirect yet bright light. It also only needs to be watered when the top layer of the soil is wet. The prayer plant naturally grows slowly but regular feeding of fertilizer during summer can speed up the process.

Cast Iron Plant- Cast iron plant is a low-maintenance indoor house plant that can grow in partial to full shade. Too much sunlight, especially direct sunlight, can burn the leaves. It also only needs water when the soil is a little dry. What’s amazing about this plant is its ability to add moisture back into the air.
