In his speech, Amit Shah stated that dairy is a global business, but in a country like India, with a population of 130 crore, it is a source of employment, an alternative to strengthening the rural economy, a solution to malnutrition problems, and a sector with enormous potential for women empowerment. He stated that if we look at the development of the dairy industry since India's independence, it is clear that the dairy sector has aptly linked all of these aspects with the country's development.

Shah stated that the Cooperative Dairy, which works for the prosperity of farmers, has made a significant contribution to this. Cooperative dairy has paved the way for the country's poor women farmers to become self-sufficient. He stated that to fulfil the mantra of "Sahkar se Samridhi," Prime Minister Narendra Modi established the Ministry of Cooperation in the 75th year of independence.

According to the Home Minister, the Indian Dairy Association was founded soon after independence in 1948, and IDA has been instrumental in the development of the country's dairy sector. He stated that this conference has attempted to have a comprehensive discussion in order to make India's dairy sector the strongest in the world. He stated that our dairy and animal husbandry sectors contribute 4.5 percent to the country's GDP, and the dairy sector's contribution to agriculture is 24 percent, valued at around Rs 10 lakh crore and the highest in the world.

According to Shah, dairy is a significant contributor to our economy, employing approximately 45 million people from 9 million rural households, primarily marginal farmers and women. Dairy sector has grown at a 6.6 percent annual rate over the last decade. He said that the Ministry of Cooperation, National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and the Department of Animal Husbandry formed by the PM Modi will establish rural dairies in 2 lakh panchayats in the country and then the growth rate of the dairy sector will achieve 13.80 percent.

He claims that our milk processing capacity is approximately 126 million litres per day, the highest in the world. Shah stated that we process 22% of our total milk production, which benefits farmers by increasing their income. He stated that in the export of dairy products, products such as milk powder, butter, and ghee play a significant role, with enormous potential. He stated that the government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has formed a Multistate Cooperative Society for exports, and that by connecting it with these 2 lakh rural dairies, exports could be increased fivefold.

Looking at the global dairy scenario, the Union Minister of Cooperation stated that in 1970, India produced approximately 6 crore litres of milk per day and was a milk-deficient country. He stated that this production has increased to 58 million litres per day by 2022, with the dairy sector playing a significant role. According to him, India's population increased fourfold between 1970 and 2022, while milk production increased more than tenfold. He stated that while per capita milk consumption in the country was 107 grammes in 1970, it has now increased to 427 grammes per capita, which is higher than the global average of 300 grammes.

Shah stated that the Government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not waste any opportunity to develop the dairy sector and that all efforts are being made to make India the world's largest milk exporter.

Amit Shah stated that the country is in need of a White Revolution-2, and that we are moving in that direction under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He stated that the cooperative model in the dairy sector affects all aspects of income, nutrition, livestock care, human interest protection, employment, and women empowerment. According to Shah, the cooperative model maximises farmer profit by eliminating the middlemen between the farmer and the consumer throughout the system.

According to Shah, India's share of milk production has risen to 21 percent, with the Amul model playing a significant role. He stated that the Government of India, led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, is making every effort to develop the dairy sector in all aspects.

Shah stated that after the formation of 2 lakh primary milk production societies in the country, India is likely to produce 33 percent of the world's milk, and that the Government, State Governments, and the Cooperative Movement will need to collaborate. He predicted that India would become the world's largest market for milk production and milk processing equipment. Shah stated that we must move forward with the goal of producing 33 percent of the world's milk by 2033-34, with approximately 330 MMT milk production per year.
